Post on the Road

Post on the road: Chihuly at the V&A

Today is a day of inspiration and enlightenment as I trek around some of London’s amazing museums!

Particularly striking was this huge glass sculpture by American glass artist Dale Chihuly, suspended from the ceiling of the ticket lobby of the Victoria & Albert Museum.

The colours glisten and glow in the sun, their translucency combining to make an unlimited number of hues, and the twisty twirly forms recall all sorts of fantastic creatures and stories.

I think the most amazing thing about this piece is the sheer scale, it really holds it’s own in the vast echoing lobby! I also love the stark contrast of modern with classical, chaotic with orderly!
